"Are you sure you understood them, Ms. Evans?" The solicitor's voice was sharp. Evelyn, barely able to sit still, fidgeted. The air in the solicitor's office was thick with the scent of aged mahogany and the unspoken tension that filled the air. Her brother, Leo, leaned back in his chair, his usual smug grin playing on his lips.

She ran a hand through her already tangled hair, the strands catching on her rings. Her jaw was tight. She felt the need to either run out or to start screaming. The will, the cold, stark testament to her parents' passing, lay open on the table.

The reading commenced. Leo received the family's vineyard, a vast and lucrative business. Evelyn was bequeathed a small, almost insignificant cottage on the edge of the property. Her mouth thinned. And then the solicitor produced a second document, sealed with wax: a map to a treasure buried somewhere on the property and a clue to finding the hidden fortune.
